Club Receives a District Simplified Grant
Nancy Thomason, President, receives grant of $1,000 for books for East Central and the Dolly Parton Foundation.The Ada Sunrise Rotary Club received a $1,000 District Simplified Grant from the District 5770 Rotary Foundation. The project being supported this year is Pontotoc County's Dolly Parton Imagination Library project which is one project administered by East Central University's Smart Start program. Each child enrolled in the Dolly Parton program will receive one book a month that is age appropriate. Smart Start's goal this year is to provide books to 300 children; this grant will purchase books for 43 children age 0 through 5 years.
In 1996 Dolly Parton launched an exciting new effort to benefit the children of her home county by providing children with books, regardless of their family income. Due to its success, in 2000, she took the program nationwide.
