Back to School Basics
Ada Sunrise Rotary is committed to helping Ada and Pontotoc-County-area students and teachers succeed, all year long, not just at back-to-school time.
What started 35 years ago (in 1992) as a simple backpack drive has grown into a year-round effort to fill gaps other programs don't reach: hygiene essentials, teacher classroom grants, bulk supplies for schools, and dictionaries for every third grader. Proceeds from our Fireball Classic Memorial Race make this possible.
🎒 What We Do
- Backpacks & hygiene kits for students across Pontotoc County and surrounding districts
- School support grants to help teachers, nurses, and school staff cover needs that fall outside the school budget
- Bulk supply donations (like copy paper) delivered directly to schools mid-year
- Dictionaries for every third grader, delivered each fall
Schools We Serve
Ada, Allen, Latta, Byng (including Francis and Homer), Coalgate, Vanoss, Stonewall, Roff, Millcreek, Konowa, Asher, Sasakwa, and Tupelo. And more!
📋 Tell Us What Your School Needs
Every school is different. If you're a counselor, nurse, teacher, or administrator, let us know what your school could use.
We can't help with everything, but we'd rather hear it from you than guess!
📄 Teacher Grant and School Support Grants
Need something for your classroom, nurse's office, or school building? We fund grants to help meet needs that fall outside the regular school budget, for teachers and school staff alike. No lengthy paperwork, no reimbursement hassle: we purchase items (or cover an invoice) directly.
- Open to teachers, nurses, front-office staff, and maintenance staff at any of our partner schools
- Covers one-time purchases and select ongoing needs
- Simple online application, reviewed on a rolling basis
- We just ask for one photo and a short note about the impact once you receive your grant
❤️ How This Is Funded
This program is funded entirely by our Fireball Classic Memorial Race, held every July 4th at Wintersmith Park, along with generous community sponsors.
