Members of Ada Sunrise Rotary recently cleaned the Peace Pole located outside the Pontotoc County Courthouse, renewing a local symbol of peace and honoring our club’s longstanding commitment to peacebuilding and cultural respect.

This Friday afternoon, Ada Sunrise Rotary members gathered for a small but meaningful act of service: cleaning the Peace Pole behind the Pontotoc County Courthouse.

This pole, originally installed around 2013 with the support of the Pontotoc County Commission, bears the message "May Peace Prevail On Earth" in eight languages: English, Chickasaw, Spanish, French, Russian, Arabic, Hebrew, and Nepalese.

Now over a decade old, the Peace Pole had accumulated mildew and mold over time. To restore it, club members gently cleaned the surface with soft brushes, sponges, and cloths.

This service project reflects Rotary’s deep-rooted commitment to peacebuilding, cultural respect, and community stewardship. While small in scale, efforts like these show that simple actions, done with care, can help preserve meaningful symbols and shared values in our local community.
