Ten Ada Sunrise Rotarians attended the Southern Oklahoma Roller Derby home bout on June 7th to cheer on fellow Rotarian Sara Trower (derby name: "Anti-PsycHOTic"), who took home the Fan Favorite award as SORD defeated Texoma Roller Derby 212-83. Rotarians also brought pet food donations for PAWS Animal Shelter and enjoyed a night full of community spirit, including a rubber duck throwing contest and a surprise halftime wedding ceremony right on the arena floor.
Ten Ada Sunrise Rotarians showed up to Star Skate Ada on Sunday, June 7th for a night that had it all, fierce competition, community giving, flying rubber ducks, and even a wedding.
The Southern Oklahoma Roller Derby (SORD) hosted the Texoma Roller Derby in their latest home bout, and SORD left no doubt, winning decisively 212 to 83. Ada Sunrise was cheering every lap of it.

Our own Sara Trower, known on the track as "Anti-PsycHOTic," skates with SORD, and it was a special night to watch her compete. The crowd apparently agreed: Sara took home the Fan Favorite award of the evening. We couldn't be more proud.
Rotarians didn't just come to watch. In the spirit of Service Above Self, our group brought pet food donations to support the SORD-hosted drive for Paws Animal Shelter. Every bag of kibble helps provide food, shelter, and care for rescued animals in our community.

The fun didn't stop at the skating. Attendees got to participate in a rubber duck throwing competition between bouts, and in a moment nobody saw coming, halftime brought a wedding ceremony right there on the arena floor, SORD skater Smack Dahlia and her fiancé Mark said their vows in front of the whole crowd. It was one of those moments that reminded everyone why community events like this are so special.

Ada Sunrise Rotary is proud to support SORD, Paws Animal Shelter, and the kind of grassroots community spirit that makes Ada a great place to live. Congratulations to SORD on the win, to Sara on her Fan Favorite honor, and to Smack Dahlia and Mark on their marriage!
